However, if a painful or lengthy procedure is necessary, anesthesia is essential. The anesthetic can be administered in water and absorbed through the skin; this also minimizes stress for the animal. For anesthesia monitoring you need special devices to constantly monitor the heart rate. This reduces the anesthesia risk significantly.
