Laboratory

Lab tests such as blood screenings are often time sensitive. We have therefore set up a modern laboratory directly in our clinic. We can carry out all urgent blood screenings and many other lab tests directly on site. We also collaborate with laboratories that specialize in exotic pets, should a more extensive workup be necessary.

Blood tests

We can examine all essential blood parameters directly in-house. We are well equipped for all mammals but also specifically geared towards our exotic patients. It goes without saying that our standard equipment also includes the analysis of ionized calcium, which is particularly important in reptiles, or uric acid in birds. For more extensive work ups, we collaborate with a laboratory that specializes in exotic species.

Parasitology

One of the most common reason for consultations of exotic pets are parasite infestation. Parasites are often found and extensively treated in other small animal practices after examinations of the feces are carried out. But few veterinarians are aware, that in exotic animals many parasites are actually part of the normal intestinal fauna. We can assess the fecal samples directly in the clinic and decide whether further examinations and treatments are necessary or not.

Cytology

We can assess many samples such as ear swabs from rabbits or cell samples from masses and tumors directly on site. For more complex examinations, we collaborate with a specialized laboratory.

Pathology

Should your animal die of uncertain cause, we collaborate with specialized pathologists who can investigate the cause of death. This is particularly important when several animals die in a larger group to prevent further deaths.
